Metro TAP Pass sales available by appointment
The South Pasadena Senior Center will begin offering TAP card loading for residents beginning April 27 in order to meet the requests from the public. The Senior Center sells senior and disabled metro passes for residents at a reduced rate of $10 for 30 day pass.
Residents with Metro TAP cards can call the Center office to schedule an appointment with at least one days notice. Those scheduling an appointment will need to make sure they are following social distancing protocols, as well as wear a mask.
The office is taking telephone calls 8am – 2pm and can be reached at (626)403-7360.
SENIOR CENTER MODIFIED SERVICES/FACILITY CLOSURE
Due to health and safety concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Senior Center Facility will be closed effective March 16th. City officials will reevaluate reinstating services at a later date. The following services will continue to be provided with modifications for patrons residing in the City of South Pasadena:
- Senior Lunch Program:
- Seniors who reside in the South Pasadena area and wish to have meals delivered may call the office at 626.403.7360, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make arrangements.
- Meals on Wheels service will continue to be provided by the Senior Center via Dial A Ride – please call the office for more details or to make arrangements.
- Senior Leisure and Fitness Classes:
- All classes in city facilities have been cancelled until further notice.
- Senior Excursions:
- All senior monthly trips have been cancelled until further notice.
- All senior special events have been cancelled until further notice.

The County of Los Angeles has opened emergency cooling centers for relief during the weekend’s hot weather.Centers are open from today, April 24 to April 25, from 12pm to 6pm.
Although South Pasadena does not currently have an active cooling center, the following centers are closest to South Pasadena - Robinson Park Community Center (1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena) & Jocelyn Center (210 N. Chapel Ave., Alhambra)

The following neighborhood community stores are offering special hours to allow shopping at your leisure and comfort for individuals who are elders, or individuals with disabilities. The stores offering hours are:

- Hours are 8am – 9 am
- Grass Roots: 1119 Fair Oaks Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030.

If you are within this population, and do not feel comfortable going out and shopping, please sign up with the temporary Critical Delivery Service program offered through the WDACS. If you qualify, you can call the following number to request delivery services.

To help combat the consequences of self-isolation caused by Social Distancing, USC Geriatric services is providing the following resource to combat isolation while being able to gain a connection to help a student learn about aging, and have friendly daily check-in calls.

The Center’s mission is to offer a place in which older adults and persons with disabilities can meet with one another to fulfill their social, physical, emotional and intellectual needs. Senior Citizens Foundation of South Pasadena, Inc: The Foundation was formed in 2006 to serve as a fundraising mechanism for the South Pasadena Senior Center. Each year they reach out to members of the center and the community to solicit donations that benefit the wants, wishes and needs of the Center. The Foundation has a 501©3 status and donations are tax deductible.
