The South Pasadena Senior Center is a community focal point that opened in 1982, a “one stop shopping center” for services and activities.  The Center’s mission is to offer a place in which older adults and persons with disabilities can meet with one another to fulfill their social, physical, emotional and intellectual needs.  Center programs and activities are designed to enhance and support senior citizen independence and encourage involvement in and with the community. "My mother was a member of So Pas Senior Center and enjoyed so many
of the activities that were offered. She loved attending the Friday movies and
the writing class on Thursdays. In fact, a few years ago, she wrote a wonderful
memoir of her early life and shared pieces of it at the writing class. Our family
appreciates the wonderful environment and attention that is provided to our
Seniors. I'm proud to live in a community that takes care of our
special populations." -R.L family

The center is constantly active with all the activities we have to offer. Please click the links below to view our day to day programs:

Senior Center Daily Meal Program and Menu:

October 2019 Lunch Menu

The Center offers hot meals Monday through Friday, serving lunch at 11:45 pm to adults age 55 and over for $2.75 per meal. Menu copies available at the Center.

For older adults or disabled persons who live in South Pasadena and unable to cook for themselves, meals are delivered Monday through Friday.  Volunteers deliver meals anywhere from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. This also provides the opportunity to assess the safety and well-being of home bound individuals and report to the Senior Center Manager.

Due to the small amount of staffing at the Center, volunteers are utilized for many aspects of the day to day operationsFor example, volunteers cover the front desk, greet the public, take in lunch reservations, direct the public to appropriate classrooms, serve meals, assist with clean up after luncheons, instruct classes, deliver meals, and much more.

Membership to the Center is offered to adults age 55 and older.  Memberships benefits include mailing of newsletter, access to free classes and lectures (including those funded by the  SC Foundation of So Pasadena), use of computer lab, and parking permit which allows members to participate in multiple activities in one day without the worry a parking violation.

Metro passes are sold to Senior Citizens residents age 60 and over (or those qualified for disabled pass) for MTA buses and the Metro trains.  The Metro passes (TAP cards) can be obtained by visiting http://www.metro.net/riding/fares/. Applications can also be obtained at the Senior Center.  Cards can be load for a 30 days period from the day of purchase and are sold to residents only for $10.
