Free Flu Vaccinations: Annual in October The Senior Center will host the Community Outreach RNs from Huntington Hospital in the early fall for free seasonal influenza vaccinations to the general public. Information & Referral services: Assistance is available to provide resources which assist in dealing with aging matters and preventing unnecessary institutionalization. Social Work Intern is available for consultation. Call to schedule an appointment.
Convalescent Care Planning: Attorney specializing in Elder Law provides information on finding and playing for convalescent care as well as on financial protection for married couples under the Spousal Impoverishment Law. Contact the center for more information.
Homeless and People in Need: (PDF) Brochure of resources is available with listings of shelters, medical services, housing, reporting abuse, mental health, transportation, legal assistance, and hotlines is available. Social Work intern is also available for consultation.
Elder Wisdom Group: This group is committed to personal growth, positivity and the enormous potential of our daily choices. The group acknowledges emotional maturity that is only available to those with many years of life experience. Sharing of resources and support of one another is given as individuals journey through what can be the best part of life. Group is facilitated by Oliver Beaudette, Certified Sage-ing Leader. Group meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 1 pm.
Blood Pressure Checks: Provided by Pressure checks are offered 1st Friday by Home Instead, 2nd Wednesday by Huntington Hospital, 4th Wednesday Right at Home.
Blood Pressure and Glucose Testing: Glucose testing is offered the second Wednesday at 8:30 am (fasting 1.5 hours prior is required).
Podiatry Clinic: Once per month Podiatrist is available by appointment. Medicare assignment is accepted, but 61 days are needed between visits for Medicare to cover the service. Doctor does not work with HMO plans but can provide service for a fee for those without insurance.
Medication Review: Quarterly we will have a doctors come in and review your medication with you in detail. You may call the Senior Center for more details: (626) 403-7360.
Legal Advice: We are currently searching for a legal consultant. However, if you have an immediate need for legal advice or services please contact Bet Tzedek of LA County Senior Services at (323)939-0506.
Financial Advice: Advice is given on reviewing investments by volunteer adviser twice per month.
Telephone Reassurance Program: The Telephone Reassurance Program is a daily phone call, Monday through Sunday, to the older adults of South Pasadena and surrounding communities. The Center aims to serve those who live alone or are home bound. The program serves as a daily check on safety and/or welfare.
