Subject: Attempted Mail Theft Leads to Multiple Arrests
South Pasadena, CA – On Friday, July 25, 2025, at approximately 10:11 a.m., South Pasadena Police officers responded to a report of an attempted mail theft in the 1500 block of Huntington Drive.
Responding officers quickly located a vehicle leaving the area that matched the description provided by witnesses. A traffic stop was conducted, and officers contacted the vehicle’s four occupants, 37-year-old Marlos Merlos, 39-year-old Luis Lopez, 28-year-old Andrea Hurtado, and 27-year-old Gisselle Ibarra, all residents of Los Angeles.
A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of burglary tools, stolen property, and methamphetamine inside the vehicle. All four suspects were arrested for charges including: attempted mail theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, and possession of methamphetamine
A follow-up investigation is ongoing to identify additional victims and determine the full scope of the thefts.
