Subject: Suspect Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
South Pasadena, CA – On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 6:09 p.m., South Pasadena Police Officers were dispatched to the area of El Centro Street and Diamond Avenue regarding a reported stabbing. The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Diamond Avenue on foot.
Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located the victim, who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Immediate lifesaving measures were provided, including the application of a tourniquet to control bleeding.
Additional officers checked the surrounding area and located a male subject matching the suspect description on the Metro A-Line platform. Officers detained this subject before he was able to board the train. Upon further investigation, including interviews with multiple witnesses and review of surveillance footage, officers determined the detained individual was suspect wanted in the assault.
The suspect was identified as Richard Alexander Pace, 37, of Ventura. He received medical treatment for a pre-existing condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital before being transported to the Pasadena City Jail, where he was booked on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was later transferred to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Reception Center.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with significant injuries and is expected to survive.
