Subject: Resident Finds Military Ordinance During Home Renovation

South Pasadena, Calif. – On August 26, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the South Pasadena Police Department dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 300 block of Grace Drive. The resident reported to find what appeared to be an authentic piece of military ordinance in a closet of a home being renovated for a relative. Officers responded and determined the ordinance appeared authentic and notified the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD).

LASD Bomb Squad deputies responded to the scene and, after careful examination, determined the ordinance did not pose a threat. The deputies destroyed the item on-site and later removed it and transported it for safe keeping purposes.

If you encounter an item that makes you feel uneasy or suspicious, don’t touch it and please dial 9-1-1. For more information about the City of South Pasadena, visit www.southpasadenaca.gov.
