Subject: Los Angeles Clarinet Choir Concert at South Pasadena Public Library
South Pasadena, Calif. – In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir, an ensemble of clarinetists performing on soprano, sopranino, alto, bass, and contrabass clarinets under the direction of conductor Victoria Ramos Dresel, will present Clarinet Fiesta!: A Latin American Sound Celebration. The concert will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 3:00 p.m. in the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room, 1115 El Centro Street, South Pasadena, CA 91030. Admission is free and open to the public.
The program will feature Latin American music in both folk and classical concert traditions, with exciting new arrangements and original works by composers from Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, and Brazil. This project carries special significance as an outreach to the broader Spanish-speaking community of Los Angeles County.
Celebrating its 18th year, the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir is recognized for its dynamic performances of original works and arrangements written for its unique instrumentation, including numerous commissioned pieces. The ensemble has been featured at five International Clarinet Association ClarinetFests and performs regularly at colleges, community concert series, schools, libraries, museums, and retirement communities. The Choir has also been awarded organizational matching grants from the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture. Members of the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir are selected by audition and hold college degrees in clarinet performance or have equivalent advanced study.
