Subject: City to Host Ribbon Cutting and Photo Opportunity at Local Pocket Parks
South Pasadena, Calif. – The City of South Pasadena is proud to announce the completion of two new pocket parks made possible through significant grant funding supporting local park development. The City secured $550,000 in Measure A funds from the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District (RPOSD), and an additional $193,992 from the State of California’s Proposition 68 Parks and Water Bond of 2018.
RPOSD is a special district of Los Angeles County that contributes property tax revenue to cities, non-profits, and public agencies to enhance parks, open space and recreational programming. Proposition 68, approved by California voters in 2018, provides statewide funding for parks, environmental restoration, water infrastructure and flood protections projects.
These combined grant funds supported the construction of two new pocket parks: Grevelia Pocket Park and the Dr. Beatriz Solis Memorial Park located at Berkshire Pocket Park. This investment underscores the City’s ongoing commitment to expanding public open space, enhancing recreational amenities, and improving the overall quality of life for the public. The new pocket parks create accessible, environmentally sustainable green spaces that will serve the community for years to come.
With construction now complete, the City will celebrate this milestone with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Dr. Beatriz Solis Memorial Park, located at 2006 Berkshire Avenue, followed by a photo opportunity at Grevelia Pocket Park, located at 1107 Grevelia Street, at 11:15 a.m. The City of South Pasadena extends its sincere appreciation to the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District and the State of California through Proposition 68 for their continued support of local park and open space initiatives.
