Subject: Residential Structure Fire at 200 Block of Fremont Avenue
South Pasadena, Calif. – At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, the City of South Pasadena Fire Department, with assistance from Pasadena and Alhambra Fire Departments, responded to a reported residential structure fire at the 200 block of Fremont Ave. in the City of South Pasadena.
Units on scene encountered light smoke coming from the rear of a two-story residential structure. Crews made access to a covered patio at the rear of the house and extinguished the fire quickly, preventing the fire from extending to the rest of the house. Crews were on scene for approximately two hours checking for any extension and investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
All occupants were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Safety Note:
Lithium-ion batteries power many everyday items, including phones, laptops, e-bikes, scooters, tools, and toys. To reduce fire risk, use only the charger that came with the device or one approved by the manufacturer. Charge devices on a hard, flat surface and keep them away from beds, couches, paper, clothing, or other combustibles. If possible, avoid charging large batteries such as e-bikes or scooters indoors. Do not charge devices overnight or leave them unattended for long periods. Stop using the battery if it is hot, swollen, leaking, smoking, making noise, or has an unusual odor. If this occurs, move away, call 911, and do not handle the battery. Dispose of lithium-ion batteries properly and never place them in household trash.
