City and Athens Services Launch New Bulky Item Pick-Up Program

South Pasadena, CA – The City of South Pasadena, in partnership with Athens Services, is pleased to announce the launch of a new Bulky Item Pick-Up Program designed to provide residents with more flexible, convenient, and accessible disposal options for large household items.
Effective immediately, all South Pasadena residential customers, including senior citizens, are eligible to receive one free curbside bulky item collection per calendar quarter. Each scheduled pick-up allows for the disposal of up to five bulky items at no additional cost.
This new initiative replaces the previous Dumpster Day and Senior Citizen Dumpster Week programs. By eliminating the need to wait for specific drop-off days or haul items to designated locations, the program simplifies bulky item disposal and supports the City’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and public cleanliness.
Key Details:
- Service includes: One free pick-up per quarter of up to five bulky items.
- Eligible items: Common bulky items such as mattresses, furniture, and appliances with some restrictions such as construction debris, electronic waste, and hazardous materials.
- Multifamily unit tenants must coordinate with their property owner or HOA to schedule service.
- Scheduling: Residents can request service directly through Athens Services. Please submit your request at least 24 hours in advance. Items should be placed on your curb by 6:00 a.m. on scheduled pick-up day.
