Published on January 28, 2025
Beginning February 12, 2025, the South Pasadena Public Library will launch “K-Culture 101: Learn Korean Language and Lifestyle,” a series for adults. The sessions will be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month through the end of April from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Library Conference Room. As Korean culture continues to captivate the U.S. with global sensations like BTS, Blackpink, and hit shows such as Squid Game, this class provides a unique opportunity for participants to learn the Korean language while immersing themselves in Korea's vibrant culture. Participants will learn basic grammar, essential Korean phrases, and develop conversational skills in a supportive and engaging environment. It also explores Korean traditions, history, and modern trends. This series highlights the Library’s commitment to fostering lifelong learning and promoting crosscultural understanding. No registration is required.
Samuel K. Lee, the class instructor, brings extensive knowledge, experience, and a passion for sharing Korean culture in the United States. Born in South Korea, Sam moved to the U.S. in 2007 and has been dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and education ever since. In 2009, he founded a Korean language and culture club in Las Vegas to help a nurse better communicate with elderly Korean patients. What began as a small initiative quickly grew into one of the city’s largest and most vibrant foreign language groups. Professionally, Sam specializes in marketing and business development. He has been instrumental in helping Korean tech companies successfully enter the U.S. market and expand their global presence. Additionally, he collaborates with Korean entertainment companies as a music publisher. Sam holds a master’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
