Subject: Suspect Arrested After Brandishing BB Gun at Metro Station

South Pasadena, CA – On July 21, 2025, at approximately 11:41 a.m., the South Pasadena Police Department received a report of a male suspect brandishing what appeared to be a silver handgun at the South Pasadena Metro Station.

Officers responded immediately and interviewed several witnesses, who identified the suspect as he began to walk away. When officers attempted to make contact, the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Antonio Rivera of Los Angeles, fled the scene on foot, crossing multiple streets. During the foot pursuit, Rivera was seen discarding a silver firearm in the parking lot of a business located in the 700 block of Mission Street.

Rivera was apprehended without further incident a short distance away. The discarded firearm was recovered and determined to be a BB gun. Notably, the chamber contained a real but empty shell casing, adding to the realistic appearance of the weapon.

Rivera is scheduled to appear for arraignment at the Alhambra Courthouse in October.
