Subject: Suspect Arrested for Felony Theft

South Pasadena, CA – On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the South Pasadena Communications Center began receiving calls of a male running to the backyard of a residence in the 1800 Block of Olive Avenue. The caller reported that the male was carrying a basket full of items.

Officers began searching the area for the male. When he saw officers, he attempted to flee the area on foot but was quickly apprehended. Further investigation revealed that the male had stolen over six hundred dollars of merchandise from a nearby grocery store.

The suspect, 29-year-old Michael Del Rio of Los Angeles, was booked for P.C. 666.1, Felony Theft with Prior Convictions. He was found to be on parole with the California Department of Corrections, and a subsequent hold was placed on him as well.
