About Us
The Human Resources Office is a Division of the Management Services Department, dedicated to responsible human resource management by: recruiting qualified individuals for a productive workplace; providing a safe work environment; maintaining equitable compensation systems; and committing to personal and professional development of the employees through meaningful training and recognition programs.
Personnel Operations
The Human Resources Division manages the City’s employment system through the development and implementation of personnel management practices and procedures. This division also provides support and assists City departments with recruitment and employee relations matters and ensures that they are knowledgeable with the City's Personnel Rules & Regulations, Memorandums of Understanding, Administrative policies, and state and federal labor laws.
Employee Services
The Human Resources Division budgets and administers comprehensive benefits for full time employees that include pension and deferred compensation; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; sick and holiday leave; paid vacation hours; long-term disability; and an employee assistance program. The Division assists employees with questions they may have during their employment and any benefit changes and strives to provide excellent customer service to enhance the quality of life of our employee’s and the residents of our City.

What is the difference between Open and Promotional Recruitment?
An Open Recruitment is open to all candidates, whereas a Promotional Recruitment is open to current full-time City of South Pasadena employees who are not in their probationary period.

How long does it take to fill a vacancy?
It depends since the length of the recruitment is determined by the Department. Recruitments can be opened for 2 weeks to 30 days or maybe opened until filled. On average, recruitment, from opening to a candidate coming on board, can take 12 weeks.
