Teen Volunteer Corps - Fall 2025

Teen Volunteer Corps

The South Pasadena Public Library Teen Volunteer Corps (formerly known as Teen Advisory Board (TAB)) is a group of teens, grades 8-12, dedicated to helping out and improving the library. Teens earn community service hours by assisting at volunteer sessions and events during the school year.

Projects include:

  • Prepping crafts for story time
  • Creating felt pieces for story time
  • Filling displays
  • Cleaning books and toys

The fall 2025 volunteer session runs from September 6, 2025-December 13 2025. If you have any questions, please contact Children's Services at childrenlibrarian@southpasadenaca.gov or call 626-403-7358.

SRP

Applications for 2025 Summer Reading Program volunteering are now closed. If you are still interested in volunteering at the library, please click on the tab for Teen Volunteer Corps - Fall 2025.

Are you a teen who is interested in volunteering with the South Pasadena Public Library (SPPL) during our 2025 Summer Reading Program (SRP)?

Interested volunteers must have completed 6th-12th grades by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

SRP volunteers interact with the public by recruiting them to sign up for SRP and administering prizes. They represent the library; therefore, the selection of volunteers is a very important process. Potential volunteers will be interviewed by the children's librarians to determine if they meet the below criteria.

Returning SPPL volunteers do not need to be interviewed, but are not automatically accepted.

Individuals are chosen using the following criteria:

  • Reliability/Initiative
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to Communicate Effectively
  • Maturity
  • Poise/Flexibility
  • Integrity
  • Enthusiasm

Volunteer shifts will be available seven days a week during most library open hours. A complete list of dates will be on Sign Up Genius once volunteers have been accepted. Volunteers must volunteer a minimum of 20 hours during the summer.

We are sorry that not all applicants can be selected.
