Subject: City of South Pasadena Announces Community Meetings on Budget, Aging Infrastructure and Street Conditions

South Pasadena, Calif.– The City of South Pasadena is hosting a series of Community Meetings to discuss the state of the City’s infrastructure, budget outlook, and long-term investment plans, and to hear directly from residents about priorities and potential paths forward.

During each meeting, the City’s Finance team will provide an overview of the budget process, share the City’s financial goals and long-term outlook, and answer questions from the public. Attendees will also receive an overview of the Proposed Budget and Capital Improvement Plan for FY 2026-27.

As part of the capital plan, these meetings will provide information related to the maintenance of South Pasadena’s 69 miles of streets, over 83 miles of water mains, 60 miles of sewer lines, 454 fire hydrants, and dozens of traffic signals within its 3.44 square miles. Although City crews currently repair more than 1,000 potholes annually, and Public Works manages an ongoing resurfacing program, existing funding levels are not sufficient to meaningfully improve the City’s already poorly rated street conditions citywide.

“The City maintains a balanced budget and healthy emergency reserves, but a citywide street and infrastructure improvement plan cannot be funded from existing resources alone,” said City Manager Todd Hileman. “We want to hear from our residents about their priorities as we explore options to ensure the long-term health of our infrastructure.”

These meetings will offer an important opportunity for residents to learn more about the budget development process, how the City allocates resources, and recommendations for improving the City’s infrastructure. Residents are invited to attend any of the following:
