Subject: Sustainability Fair Rescheduled Due to Expected Rain

South Pasadena, Calif.–The Sustainability Fair: Plant Swap & Garden Tour has been rescheduled to May 2, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. due to expected rain this weekend. The event will continue to take place at Arroyo Seco Woodland & Wildlife Park (“Nature Park”), located at 100 Pasadena Avenue.

The Sustainability Fair, hosted by the City of South Pasadena in partnership with South Pasadena Beautiful and Friends of South Pasadena Nature Park, is a free, family-friendly event celebrating environmental stewardship and sustainable living.

This interactive community event offers a variety of activities designed to educate, inspire, and engage attendees of all ages in sustainable practices.

Event Highlights

  • Plant Swap: Bring a plant and take a plant! The fair will have a variety of native and low-water plants available. Please bring a potted, labeled plant (no cuttings).
  • Bike Valet: Ride your bike and park with ease! Active South Pas has your bicycle covered while you explore.
  • Environmental Programs: Learn about water conservation rebates, organics recycling, the leaf blower ban, and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Garden Tour: Explore South Pasadena’s superbloom and newly established micro-forest! Children can enjoy the Story Path and a Nature Scavenger Hunt. Tour times are scheduled for 1:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
  • Garden Design Workshop: Gain expert advice on creating water-wise landscapes and designing rain gardens. Workshop time is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Facilitated by Metropolitan Water District and Green Media Studio.
  • 3-Stream Waste Sorting Workshop: Walk through the new trash sorting system with waste coordinators from Athens Services. Workshop times are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Connect with Environmental Organizations: Explore booths from community organizations and utilities, and discover sustainable living tips!

 

 

Event Access & Parking

Attendees can enter the Nature Park from two locations:

  • Lower Entrance: Located just past the Arroyo Seco Golf Course driving range via the paved shared-use path at the west end of Lohman Lane. Limited street parking is available on Lohman Lane. Recommended use for bike valet.
  • Upper Entrance: Located on the 100 block of Pasadena Avenue, east of York Boulevard Bridge. Street parking is available along Pasadena Avenue and surrounding streets. Please note that accessing the event area from this entrance requires walking down a set of winding stairs.
