Teen Volunteer Corps

Teen Volunteer Corps 

The South Pasadena Public Library Teen Volunteer Corps is a group of teens dedicated to helping out and improving the library during the school year. Teens earn community service hours by helping out with various projects such as dusting shelves, craft prep, and event set up.

Requirements: 

  1. Volunteers must be in 8th-12th grades by the 2026-2027 school year.
  2. Volunteer a minimum of 20 hours. Volunteer dates and times are dependent on the library's needs. A complete list of dates and times will be made available on Sign Up Genius once volunteers have been accepted. 

Application Process: 

  1. If you are interested in volunteering during the 2026-2027 school year, please click on the link below to add your name to our interest list. You will be notified when applications are live.  
  2. New volunteer applicants must be interviewed by the children's librarian.
  3. Due to the high volume of applicants, returning volunteers are NOT guaranteed a spot.
  4. If applicants are not accepted the first time they apply, they are encouraged to try again.

Summer Reading Program

Applications to volunteer for Summer 2026 are now closed.  

The Library relies on volunteers to assist with the annual Summer Reading Program (SRP).

The volunteers' main job is to interact with the public by recruiting them to sign up for SRP and administering prizes. They also assist staff with various projects, including dusting shelves and setting up for library events.  

Requirements: 

  1. Volunteers must have completed 7th-11th grades by Summer 2026.
  2. Attend one training session in mid-May.
  3. Volunteer a minimum of 20 hours during the summer. Volunteer opportunities will be available from late May through August. Dates and times are dependent on the library's needs. A complete volunteering schedule will be made available on Sign Up Genius once volunteers have been accepted.
