South Pasadena Public Library is Accepting Applications from 9th through 12th Graders for its new Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

Applications are due Friday, September 14th

The South Pasadena Public Library Teen Advisory Board is a small group of high school students dedicated to improving the library in the following ways: 

    Suggesting ideas for the teen zone 
    Practice creative brainstorming, problem solving, team building skills 

    Recommending books, movies, and music for the Library to purchase 
    Learn about how libraries build collections 

    Creating, planning, and implementing events specifically for teens 
    Get experience with event planning and coordination 

    Helping to create and maintain the Library’s social media for teens 
    Learn about marketing and promotion

The skills learned in TAB are transferable and desirable for many careers. TAB members will also earn community service hours, gain hands-on experience and the opportunity to work with professionals and build relationships.

TAB Requirements
Teen Advisory Board members must... 
  1. Be in the 9th-12th grades 
  2. Have a South Pasadena Public Library card 
  3. Attend all meetings and events to earn community service hours

Wednesday, September 19: First meeting — pizza and games!
Wednesday, October 3: Plan for Teen Read Week event
Wednesday, October 10: Help host Teen Read Week event
Wednesday, October 24: Discuss Teen Read Week event/start planning December event
Wednesday, November 14: Plan for Winter Holiday Gift-Making event
Tuesday, December 4: Winter Holiday Gift-Making event
Wednesday, December 5: Last meeting — pizza and games!

Meetings will take place in the Ray Bradbury Conference Room on the second floor of the Library. Events will take place in the Library Community Room.
